Synopsis[]
Gus Turner tries to stay awake for New Year's Eve.
Plot[]
Everyone in the Bay Area sets up decorations for their New Year's Eve celebration and they all go to Lola's house to hold the party. Gus in particular enjoys being able to stay up late, if he's physically able to.
Meanwhile, Professor Moshimo and Robotboy discuss the holiday, as Robotboy doesn't know what it's about and doesn't fully get the concept "counting down." When Lola mentions it's merely counting backwards, Robotboy proceeds to count facing the opposite direction.
Gus is already visibly tired, but wants to stay awake for the New Year. So, Tommy and Lola take up the mission of helping him stay awake long enough.
In the backyard, Moshimo gets some cookies so that he could show Robotboy how counting down works. They count them down as Moshimo eats the first couple one at time, before Robotboy starts gobbling up the rest of the batch at once..
Elsewhere, Tommy and Lola have made Gus a special party hat covered in noisy objects to keep him awake, but they find it's too noisy to deal with. Tommy and Lola then go through various schemes to keep Gus awake, as he continuously falls asleep on them.
Tommy and Lola soon notices that Gus is gone, when the PE Teacher points out he's been asleep in the community center for a while now. Tommy is disappointed that he failed their mission, but the teacher tells him Gus will understand.
Everyone comes out to prepare for the countdown, including Gus, who feels rested and had an alarm clock ready. Lola is now sporting her two-piece swimsuit and is on the edge of her diving board about ready to dive. They all count down to the new year and the PE Teacher blows her whistle and Lola jumps up into the air and lands into the swimming pool, as she lands with a big splash, everyone shouted with joy, "Happy New Year!" and they begin to celebrate, and everyone switches into their swimwear just as soon as Lola jumps into the pool. Robotboy and Moshimo immediately take a nap themselves, then, Lola tells Tommy, "Happy New Year, Tommy," and gives him a kiss, and Tommy blushes.
