Styx Digitized

Styx Erikson, the second of the three Erikson robots.

Styx is the second robot created by Eddy Erikson and the only robot that is entirely silent, and also the only to have been designed by Eddy that wasn’t meant for space travel. An upgrade from the NIX AI system, Styx was designed to learn at twice the rate as Nix was supposed to. Because of extreme doubts about the safety of such an intelligent robot by Eddy’s father, Mikael, Eddy never powered on the robot. Styx is named after a moon of Pluto. Styx is silent; therefore he is not voiced by anybody because he never speaks.

Creation of Styx

Styx was created after learning from the mistakes of designing Nix. Styx was designed to have a computer capable of hardware resets and complete reprogramming, the only one of the three Erikson robots to have such an ability, and was also the only one of the three to be painted with a "Razzle-Dazzle" dazzle camouflage. He was designed with Carbon 40/40 armor plating, with a titanium endoskeleton laced with tungsten. Because of the nature of the metals, Styx was extremely durable. He was supposed to be powered by ten Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generators, providing a power output of 10000W at superactivation and 500W at regular activation, thus making him the most powerful of the three Erikson robots, but he wasn’t powered on until “Robotboy and the Question of Triton”.

Robotboy and the Question of Triton

An attack on the United States is planned by Bjorn Bjornson in cooperation with the International Central Affairs with an end goal of killing the owners of the robots and claiming them for reprogramming to take over total control of the world. After much deliberation, Tommy Turnbull contacts Lola Mbola and Dr. Kamikazi to help them in their attempt to save the world. Professor Moshimo and Eddy join forces to make a new program capable of being run up at the same time on multiple robots, naming their creation Miranda. They installed Miranda into Robotboy, Protoboy, Robotgirl, Triton and Nix, but Eddy refused to power up Styx. After Tommy forced an explanation from Eddy, the story of the death of his father was revealed, and the reason why Styx was never booted up was because Eddy was continuing to abide by his deceased father’s wishes. Tommy is able to convince Eddy to try a software dump and reprogramming of Styx’s subsystem with only Miranda, and the process is a success. Styx takes over control of the mission to save the world, and together they eventually destroy the chemical and nuclear weapons that the ICA had planned to use on the US.
